Awedu Institute Hosts Rivers State Ministry of Education: A Strategic Visit for Greater Impact

On Wednesday, August 20, 2025, the National Office of the Awedu Institute of Business Management and Leadership, Port Harcourt, had the distinct honor of hosting the Rivers State Ministry of Education. The delegation, led by the Director of Higher Education, Dr. Magdalene Wilcox, HDFBML, was warmly received by the Institute’s leadership team.

Welcoming the visitors were Dr. Lenu Wege (Vice President), Dr. Nnordee Bariagara King David (Registrar General), Dr. Stephen Okoro (Governing Council Member), and Barr. Daniel Okey.

The Registrar General, Dr. Nnordee, delivered a brief but impactful presentation showcasing the Institute’s remarkable achievements, milestones, and rapid growth. In response, the Vice President, Dr. Wege, expressed appreciation to the Ministry for their oversight role, describing the visit as both timely and reassuring.

Dr. Magdalene Wilcox commended the Institute’s exceptional progress, leadership impact, and proactive engagement within such a short span of existence. She emphasized the importance of continuity, encouraging Awedu to maintain its momentum while assuring the Ministry’s support whenever required.

She particularly applauded the Institute’s hospitality and professional reception, describing it as an unexpected “VIP treatment” that made the visit truly memorable.

The meeting evolved into a friendly and strategic dialogue, with both parties aligning on the shared goal of advancing education, leadership, and human capital development. A notable recommendation from the Ministry was for Awedu Institute to expand its training programs into rural communities, ensuring that vulnerable groups also benefit from its transformative initiatives.

Closing the session, the discussions went beyond the physical gathering, as Awedu’s international leaders also joined virtually. Among them were Prof. Queen Elizabeth Lucas (International Vice President) and Prof. Maurice Azubuike Odiete (President/Founder, Highstone Global University), reinforcing the Institute’s global reach and collaborative strength.

This historic visit further cements the bond between Awedu Institute and the Rivers State Ministry of Education, setting a new standard for inclusive, responsive, and community-driven leadership training in Nigeria and beyond.
